Some colour advice from you 'orrible lot, please...

  • I bought this Pearson frame off Ebay for my girlfriend - I know there's a bit of a rake on it and a pretty big gap in the rear triangle, but it's her first fixed and she's going to use it as a cruiser/commuter. I got the wheels from Scottish Mike, the stem from Jonny, the bars from Fixed Gear London and the grips from Coalition/Bicycle Union - thanks all.

Anyway, before I disappear into a vat of orangeness, I need to get some cranks for her, do I go for black or silver?

Also, anyone have a cheap/shit seatpost and an expander bolt for the stem by any chance? I also need a long reach brake for the front wheel

Trying to keep the costs down, but it's starting to go out of control...

Your advice and input is appreciated

    Thanks

  • Go silver with the cranks, chainring, and the seatpost, that way you get shiny and orange all at the same time

  • shiny + orange = more nickable?

Although that much orange is hardly subtle, I suppose...

  • +1 to silver.

Black & Orange would be too tiger-ish. Grrr.

  • take those stupid tyres off

  • get tony to repaint it for you!

    but yeah, +1 silver

  • sano - got black seatpost you can have for nixxie

i like the black and orange theme

  • Thanks Wayne, I'll take you up on that... Sure I can find something interesting to swap you?

It could use some paint, but I kind of like the old battered look - and the original transfers

@glow, I think I may have gone too far with he orange tyres... will probably change them out when they wear

  • i would say black.....black and orange looks goooood.

  • long reach caliper brakes are only 10 GN at condor, is that too steep? i'm sure you could ebay cheaper though. that is one orange bike. that is one dumb sentence. i'll be off.

  • Pink. Yeah, definitely that pink nitto crap. It'll be the coolest bike ever.. really! Yes, really!
What do you mean you don't believe me? I'm telling you man, it'll be fscking wicked!
No, I'm not on drugs, no I'm not colourblind?
    Why are people so unkind?

    Pink.

    Bits.

  • @matt - will investigate Condor, thanks for the heads up.

It is pretty orange... the benefit of hindsight, huh? I bought all the parts on different days and got a bit orangey...

I'll give it to her, if she's sick on it, I'll tone it down piece by piece until the vomiting stops... ;)

  • Black and orange.

    Grrrreat!

  • Its got to be orange and black.

What size seatpost are you after?

    Toodle pip

  • yeah i think black and orange too..... : )

  • looking good sano - so, has she seen it yet?

i always thought blue worked quite well with orange. a curve ball.

  • black

  • black

  • @ everyone - cheers for the input, think I'm veering towards black... ; )

@ jonny - she's seen the parts because I ran out of places to hide them in the flat... I agree, blue/orange is a sweet combination - I just already have a bunch of black parts, so I think it's going to have to stay this way.

@ Trixie girls - I know that she's going to want to take part in the Tuesday night fun. Especially the drinking. Oh, yes, especially the drinking...

  • Black like the sky...

oh and on the trixie front the more the merrier! literally..

  • black chainset ie £30 rpm or these on ebay ;) http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=220179346028&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=012
    black post
i posted an orange saddle on the ebay thread but may be too much

  • Nice one Dogs, you're the man with the inside knowledge on the bay...

Orange saddle = nice, but too much for this already overly orange bike - thanks though!

  • with all that orange, you might want to get her a pair of Spd clogs on Flickr - Photo Sharing! too
