  • JayDub - what names? I'll shall make initial enquiries.

  • Chilterns are out my way JayDub.. don't you city folk spontaneously combust if you head west? :)

  • i am in a constant state of spontaneous combustion so it doesn't matter where the hell i am hippy. the Whip in Lacey Green near Princes Risborough is the pub in the chilterns (it's on my ride home big H = 90 miler up to Banbury) though to be honest i can't recall an open log fire. will have to check for the names of the others stompy - will get on to it shortly.

we could always do a bit of a recky down south when we go watch the catford hill climb

  • up towards oxford there are loads and loads.

  • htay up towards oxford there are loads and loads.

throw one in the mixer htay, i am always happy to head out westwards as long as i can avoid the confusion round heathrow

  • NW towards aylesbury?

    Aylesbury

  • hippy NW towards aylesbury?

    Aylesbury

i like it hippy, do you know the roads out that way well? not that it matters

  • I ride through there on Willesden CC club runs.
That translates to: "I have no fscking idea where I am so don't lose the bunch!" :)
My mind, it's like a blank canvas every time I ride..

  • Hippy to roads is like mick dundee to the outback.

  • hippy
My mind, it's like a blank canvas.

  • I'm going out now to fill my mind.. with beer.

  • as long as everyone brings coffee/hot chocolate with brandy, i don't care where we go. how great would a cold day be with loads of cyclists huddled around flasking it?

  • That would be worth buying a small flask for.

  • Erm, bump.

No rides being planned at the moment it seems, so I'm resurrecting this.
29th or 30th. 30-40 miles out of London, pub, beer, home.

Anyone still think it's a good idea, or will everyone's new christmas toys confine their bikes to the "last year" scrapheap? ;o)

  • Hovis Brown Regent Street. Xmas 2006. Early Morning.

thats wicked. i'm well up for that. then driving to shrewsbusy for a christmas dinner... so can't make it too late. btw why didnt you stand right in teh middle of the rd?

  • Sounds like a great plan to get me off the sofa, count me in.

  • if you want to head to surrey theres some great routes with great pubs i can take you to?

  • i'm up pootling round town but not a big ride.. just wanna see it all ghostly.

don't know why i didn't stand in the middle of the road. perhaps it was just the vantage point?

by the way, this ride was at around 7am on the 25th of december. any later and people start to appear, so if you want a dead city, you'll need to go easy on the egg nog the night before.

  • POV is better this way anyhow.. you are looking right down the middle of the road AND have empty bend in road emphasising lack of traffic. Very 28 Days Later :)

  • Will be up for this. Gears though, I'm afraid.

  • Great. Just been informed by 'er indoors that I'm away at a wedding that weekend.

i asked all the zombies to stay behind me, but perhaps i should have just let them roam.
