Hi, I hope someone here can help. I bought an 80's Roberts track frame set a few months ago and the guy who sold it to me said the frame is Columbus SL and the forks are Columbus PK. Apparently to stiffen them there is a coil of steel engineered into each blade. Sounds great and I love the bike now it's built up but I can't find any info on Columbus PK. Roberts are still making bikes so I guess contacting them would be a good start, but any Columbus tube affectionados here able to help out? Thanks guys.

stright or raked fork blades?
-
• #13
Raked but pretty straight at the same time. They have two nice 'R's pantographed into the crown and are round profile.
-
• #14
his site has one from the late 70s as well no mention of pk tubing in either.

Thanks for that, closest info seems to be the 'helical ribbing' of SLX. Will keep searching.

Anyone ride a columbus aelle frame? How would it compare to a 531 or SL tubeset?
Thanks! -

Columbus tubing chart.
I've never ridden an aelle frame, but the chart should give you an idea of it's position in their heirarchy.. -

i have a road bike made of columbus zona tubing its not on that chart

Hello again, this is my first thread and it's typically narcissistic. Thanks chris crash for the catalog links. I can only assume that the seller of my frame was talking crap as the fork decals are columbus SL and there is nothing to suggest what the frame is made from. Say what you will about the classicish British frame and Japanese parts but it's suiting me fine right now and rides great. Hopefully I'll pick up the courage to join in with some of the rides posted here as they sound like fun.

Thanks. 49x17, it was 49x18 but felt my cadence was too high, however pretty slow starting up now so may need readdressing.

mid to high seventies, that's fairly big, but do-able. i think most riders start big and get spinnier as time goes on.

That's interesting, thanks Don. K and L sit next to each other so perhaps he made a typo in the description. They are a rigid fork for sure.
