1. The Hitler pic is a whopper. (Transl. from slightly drunk: "rather cool, thank you.")
   
2. It's hard not to get disheartened by the stern look or blatant dismissal from certain of the courier fraternity who look at me either as a petty fakenger/wannabe/loser when I nod cheerfully at them, or as though I'm checking them out, rather than being genuinely happy to see someone also spinning through a town by sheer force of will and legs alone, without none of them fancy gear-ish thingummies.
   
3. When I stare, it's usually because I can't tell (not the greatest eyes, these) whether that person coasting is on a single-speed (initial assumption: all sexy bikes must by default be fixies, or at least SS) or geared. Or I'm tired. Or grumpy. Or the last person that passed me was a dismissive, arrogant, nob.

What, so coz I'm on gears you don't give me time of day? How does that differ from some courier snobbing you?

Also if you overtake someone on a fixie, why is this automatically an excuse for a race? Some guy overtook me crossing kingsland road a week ago in a ridiculously dangerous manner, and i'm pretty sure its only because i passed him at a previous junction.

hehe, I had this morning going along the Old Kent Road.
Some geezer on a black 3-speed job - to be fair I started it after he took me at some lights but it was fun toying with him - continually letting him pass before totally dropping him on the last 3rd of the road… bit of early morning fun :-)

i'm usually so busy checking out the bikes i rarely have time to see the riders let alone nod !

i am normally too busy trying to catch my reflection in shop windows, etc. but if i am in a good mood i do try and acknowledge my fellow riders.
