A knock on effect is the notion that cyclists must be using the lanes. In fact, the other week a van tried to run me off the road because the driver objected to me not using the cycle lane.
By all means, support Sustrans, but I don't feel they represent me at all and I resent the assumption that they are the voice of cycling.
