Definintely more fun to me on the way up (though downhill would be okay if I was guaranteed a clear run at each intersection!).

Never happens on California. Two blocks across to the right is Bush, though - a little less steep, but with timed traffic lights, so you can make it from top to bottom at Mach 2.6.

However, you always have to take into consideration the fact that Americans can't drive.
