Plastic clips (used kingfisher, tioga, mt. christophe) - a) don't get bent out of shape if they hit the road/kerb when you ride on the back of the pedals. b) look a bit wrong on a road bike. c) are more comfortable in my opinion. d) are more likely to break in a crash. not sure if this is good / bad?
Metal clips (using MKS) - a) look good + classic bling factor. b) my left clip got scraped to sh1t and bent up regularly coz I was riding on the back plenty. c) can cut into shoes.
Straps - nylon straps last longer, cheapo leather strap lasted less than 1 week. never tried laminated / double / expensive ones..
