eBay bid snipers

Does anyone use one of these. Just lost the third in a row thing i was bidding on with about 10 seconds to go, its getting a bit boring now i need to fight fire with fire!!

i've used hammersnipe before successfully, tis free if you only want to snipe 3 auctions a week

www.justsnipe.com is another free one (although you get 5 free snipes a week), you could sign up to them both to get 8 free a week???

Justsnipe's good enough for me. Has never failed to bid for me.

I'm sure there's a patch or crack so you can use them as much as you want
or some actually free sotfwear

Are these really necessary?
Surely if something goes for more than you were prepared to pay then it's no big loss anyway?
I know you can get stung at the last minute if you're not there (I like to bid late) but the ebay way is to work out the price above which you think an item's not worth it and just enter that (plus some random pence)
If you really want it, bid more - if it goes sky high then it aint a bargain.

You can get software snipers. I don't bother any more. I just bid higher.
It's much more satisfying knowing you outbid all those cnuts with snipers. :)

Uses of bid sniping

Economic analysis of sniping (Roth and Ockenfels, 2000) suggests that it is a rational price-minimizing strategy for bidders in auctions. For example, a novice antiques buyer may prefer to bid in auctions which already have bids placed by more experienced antiques buyers, on the grounds that the items which the experienced buyers are interested in are more likely to be valuable. In this case, more informed buyers may delay bidding until the last minutes of the auction to avoid creating competition for their bids, leading to a lower winning bid. Analysis of actual winning bids on eBay (Yang and Kahng, 2006) suggests that winning bidders are more likely to have placed a single bid late in the auction, rather than placing multiple incremental bids as the auction progresses.

Try using a real sniper.

You don't need a bid sniper to bit late, unless you are not online at auction close and I mean really, who isn't online 23hrs a day? ;)

Do it yourself.
If I want something I only bid in the last 10 seconds and I bid the full amount I'm willing to pay. If someone else values the item more, well that's life baby.

I use snipers coz I think you might end up getting the item cheaper.....it lessens the likelihood of emotional bidding wars, either from myself or others.

I use Gixen - it's free, and if you want the bulletproof service from them it's about the price of a pint for a year.

There must be about 300 sniping programmes. If everyone's using one then the highest bidder wins. Its like normal ebay but 2 seconds later.
