Mine was the same when it came from Parker.... I've had no problems with it

the was that the cups are set up, putting direct pressure from both sides on the bearings, has a tendency of making them feel that way at the beginning, but they bed in fairly quickly. it should be nice and smooth in a week or so. no worries.

what tool/s do you need to install and adjust these? specifically to shift them the 1mm to get Sugino 75s on them. campy bb spanners x 2?
-
• #5
thanks guys. so i dont need to return it then...
adoubletap you need a campag bb tool for chorus/record
-
• #6
yeah, same tool for bb and for campag cassettes of those levels.
-
• #7
i heard these are poo!?
adoubletap, don't bother with 1mm ;)
-
• #8
They do tend to be unpredictable. I've known of some to last years and some to last months... who knows really.
At that price level what do you expect? Campagnolo? -
• #9
can get campag for £10-15 if you look ;)
-
• #10
yes i've heard about it too...
ross at brixton cycles just gave me a quote for a phil with steel cups. a hundred quid.
to quote the man,"but as with all phil stuff, you only buy once."
but at 107mm ISO taper i'm stuck with miche cranks forever...
still got to take the old one out and get the threads chased...
think i'll only get a phil bb when i have a roberts and campagnolo record cranks...

Yea, waste of quality getting a Phil BB for Miche cranks.
If you were to go that route I'd get a 109 ISO so you could use it when you get the Campy cranks. Phil's are adjustable for a few mm so you could use it on any ISO track cranks as they all usually take a 107 to a 111mm BB.And Dogsballs... now you're comparing a matching, track-specific miche BB to a lower end, mis-matching, non-track BB? Or a secondhand BB? Show me the matching Campagnolo Pista BB to the modern Campagnolo Pista cranks for 15 quid. Please. I'll even take a secondhand one.
I've been in this game long enough, I'm pretty sure I know the rules -

fairy nuff but 111mm campag centaur get perfect chainline for my sugino's (goldtec hubs)
campag pista is very hard to find!

• #14
yeah maybe, but campag has the wrong taper angle for anything japanese... come on,we all know iti only goes with iti.

• #15
sugion 75's use a ISO taper.

mike makes all the sense as usual...
but guess i'll need more time to save up a bit for a phil bb and i'm still waiting for my freelance invoices to be paid and i have to pay the rent today!the old one is going to be a nightmare to get out anyway... argh
so i got a new miche bb from parkers. it's brand new but the spindle feels stiff and the bearings feel little bit rough. i know it does take a while to run butter smooth but i don't assume that rough feeling is normal? i had worked on 2 shimano bb's and touched a few campag ones before and they aren't like that. anyone has handled a miche one before can tell me?
