I once went to the dentist because I had a tooth that was decaying, it was right at the back and it had gone all soft and loose, been like that for a year or so, the dentist tried just about everything to get that bastard out, in the end the only thing that did the business was a Park Tools crank extractor.
He shouldn't have bothered, it turned out it was just a peanut that had lodged itself in a gap a few years back at the office Christmas party.

self extracting bolts are even better

edmundane self extracting bolts are even better
And self extracting teeth, of course you never see them for sale anywhere, dentists don't want you to have them for obvious reasons.

Was gonna start a new thread but I guess this one seems suitable...
My crank arm's stuck! What can I do?
The drive side came off no problem, but the other side is giving me shit!
The extractor pretty much removed all the threading as I was using it!!!! (correctly)
It pulled out without taking the arm.
Now I'm out of options. Is it a saw off and ruin all job?...
Ideas anyone? :-(

If you have one side off can you remove the b.b axel (easy if it is a non seal job) and thenuse a firm surface + hammer + punck to remove axel?
Other wise yeah cut it off and you will have to replace the b.b.
These guys will repair your stripped crank extractor http://www.highpath.net/cycles/special/repairs.html

Good info guys. Thankyou.
I'll see what I can do... -

dogsballs get a normal pulley remover from hardware store or mechanic friend ;)
I have done that before but it took be about hour or so to get one crank off. I had the choice of about 6 or 7 different pullers but due to the nature of the crank getting the puller to stay on was a bitch.

I'm trying to take off my Sugino 75 crank arms from my bottom bracket.
I have removed the bolts fine but the cranks are on pretty solid and won't seem to budge.
Any suggestions on how best to remove them from the square taper? Also when it comes to reinstalling them, should I grease the square taper before fitting the crank arms or just grease the bolt threads?
Any help as always greatly appreciated!

Re Greasing, some say no - Sheldon says yes?
I put a very thin film on, just to ward off seizure, never had problems so far.
And yes, you need a crank puller.
just wanted to say... how great crank extractor tools are. that's it. have a good weekend.
