  • hmmm. strange that is. owell.

  • Very nice. Are they the standard bars and bar tape? If not, what are they? And where'd'ya get that top tube protector? Or did you make it?

    Forgive idiot question.

  • hassanr hmmm. strange that is. owell.

charge plugs are off the shelf bikes i'm not surprised if you see quite a few around

  • fatbloke Very nice. Are they the standard bars and bar tape? If not, what are they? And where'd'ya get that top tube protector? Or did you make it?

The bars and tape are standard (Slice bars and fairly nasty brown spongey tape, am waiting for them to release u-bend tape which is made out of the same stuff the saddle is made out of...)

Top tube protector was from velo orange in the states, but I believe there's also someone who sells it in the UK (name escapes me at the mo). All for the sake of pimp...

  • freshtripe bikes does the top tube protector

  • Shit.. someone with more brakes.. back to the drawing board..

  • flickwg freshtripe bikes does the top tube protector

Will at Hubjub does one too.

  • Freshstripe is the one I meant, just couldn't remember the name...

  • Evilmonkey Freshstripe is the one I meant, just couldn't remember the name...

I switched to cut risers today on my Plug, much comfier than the bullhorns for me, reused the crappy brown tape on it, but will be buying some charge tape now!.
    :edit:
bah just looked at the lead time, Mar 2008! having a laugh!

  • if you've got risers you can use mtb grips

or the dreaded Ourys, mark of the hipster*

*yes, I have them, but it was all a terrible mix up.

  • hahaaa, oh yeah!!

  • I can be smug in the fact that I didn't buy riser bars for putting on a track bike.
as an mtber I already had some old ones kicking about (what I got given free anyway) and had to put them on when I sold my nitto drops to buy food

  • not sure what to get to be honest, i'm toying with the idea of white grips or tan/honey to match the rest of the bike, or maybe navy blue to match the frame..ah decisions decisions

  • clefty bah just looked at the lead time, Mar 2008! having a laugh!

fricken heck that's a while away... That said £7, not a bad price...

  • true, i might just put up with the crappy brown tape for now, or get some cheap mtb grips now i've switched to risers.

  • Clefty, any chance of a pic of the charge with risers?

Oh and did you think of a name yet?

  • sure

tape isnt brilliant, but works for the moment, until the proper tape comes out.
i find it a lot more comfortable to ride already, specially since going fixed proper.

a few people on here seem to have nicknamed it 'the tank' (because its such a lightweight bike) and i keep using that, so I think its gonna stick

  • nice speakers

  • thanks :-) B&W 602's, had em for 11 years still doing me proud

  • The risers suit it, I think I'll stick with the horns due to my monkey like arms, but s'nice...

  • clefty thanks :-) B&W 602's, had em for 11 years still doing me proud

Yeah, I've got the same ones, gotta love that Kevlar.

  • Hi, im Maxwell, and a student at Swansea University. Im originally from Albuquerque, NM where i was a mechanic at two bike shops. I am a trials rider at heart, but on exchange for school/photography. This fixie makes for a great way to commute and cross train. Its growing on me more and more each day. The frame was salvaged from a metal recyling plant, and all the other parts were sourced from another local shop in Swansea. Built up with good parts and cost nearly nothing. Bought the wheels and thats about it.

    heres a small breakdown...

52.5cm Road frame. Had a 531 Reynolds sticker on it. Shit paint, so started to grind off, figured i would leave it looking ratty so no one nicks it! Tight but faily relaxed geometry. Matching fork.
Old school track drops and Stem
    Campagnolo Chorus Headset.
    Campagnolo Veloce BB
    Shimano 600 Cranks, 165mm.
    Campagnolo 42t chainring
Mavic Open Pro rims, DB spokes, Campagnolo Road front, Ambrosia rear. 15t Dura ace cog/ring
Brooks Saddle (worn in SO well)
Shimano 105 track pedals (switched out the MKS)
    Front fender for style:)

    thats me...
