^?
Also I bought one of those Lycra seat covers, mentioned somewhere today, in black/white pinstripe. The front will have a lightning bolt- as it is a Dawes Lightning.

do what YOU want....

I tend to, thanks. I just thought I'd ask first, to see if it had been done- trying to be original.

Nike = "Just do it".

Many apologies.
EDIT: to be honest i was asking whether it'll be permanently damaging to the paint, or will I be able to strip at a later date?

Yeah! Do what winston says! ;)

it will probably leave residue if you try to take it off... ive taped mine up with electrical tape and it hasnt exploded so go for it.

Metho (methylated spirits/white spirit) should clear it up. No idea about the resilience of Claud pain jobs though.

my ex has her wrongster done similarly;
but for theft preventative means. the only caveat i would offer is to think about all that tacky goop that will undoubtedly leave the tape and adorn your paint job, and thus need to be removed (via some amount of elbow grease) in the future in which you decide to change your exterior... in which case, preheat the tape with a hairdryer (it reactivates the adhesives), which will allow you to get most of it off with as little left over goo as possible. any kind of oil will get the rest off (ie, peanut butter used to be the old go-to, but you can use canola, corn or olive as well), plus a bit of elbow grease.
luckily, a friend and i are about to set up a paint booth underneath truman brewery, so my frame can now mature beyond its £5 spraypaint chipped-to-all-hell shitjob, and graduate towards something a little more resilient, dependable and aesthetically pleasing...

carlitos - how tall is your ex? that looks like a fucking mountain bike frame!
-
• #14
maybe 5 something? short. apparently her toe overlap is quite infuriating...

Sticky gunk left by the electrical tape is easily removed with lighter fluid.
Neither the gunk from the tape nor the lighter fluid will effect the paint work in any way whatsoever.

I've taped my Fuji. Looks a lot better now. Just used black tape.
-

same here. Taped the Fuji to fuck with black lekky tape and ripped off the reflectors. Doesn't look too bad although a bit mad max. Was gong to do a professsional job but I was passing that £1 store and thought fuck it.

i considered taping up my bike for security reasons once but someone at one bike shop i went to warned that taping up a bike is likely to encourage rust between tape and the paint...

This shouldn't be a problem if the bike is painted/clear-coated/sealed ?

Is that a can of Chunky Broth that i can see?

photographic grade waterproof cloth tape leaves no residue - 12 quid a roll though

I gaffer taped my mountainbike as it was quite nickable - and it never got nicked. I just wrapped some cut up bin bags around each tube then tapped over it. When it came to remove it it was perfect underneath. Just a bit of tape residue where the frame joints were and i didn't 'underbag' it. I quite liked the rat bike look.

Plus, the little hardware shop on the Clerkenwell Rd sells Nitto brand electrical tape.
I want some Polite Tape for the garden.
Has anyone ever used electrical tape to cover a bike? More specifically- its toxic warning tape from the lab where I work. We have a lot lying around.
Was thinking of covering my Dawes to make: DangerDawes......
Was going to go Black and Toxic Tape stripes.
Any thoughts? Basically will it be fugly in a good or bad way?
(i.e. wrongster(bad) or 80's paint jobs on bikes (done correctly-thus good))
Wow, too many question marks. I guess they are better than '!'.
