• eeehhhh Maybe I'm missing something here, but weren't they on strike against plans to modernise which would result in job losses and changes in hours - because their customers apparently demand it? And that they need to remain competitive? Well if they don't modernise, they won't have a job anyway because their customers will have sodded off because the service is useless.

    Not a voice of authority on it, but I'd heard a lot of the issue was around the fact that new laws on distance lorries can travel meant that the deliveries to the sorting office were arriving 1 hour later. For a while they still brought the posties in at the same time, but obviously they had nought to do (truck's not arrived, = no post to sort). The management wanted to change this BUT the hour later start would mean that the posties lose their unsociable hours bonus...
