26.8 to 27.2mm shim

  • I have search high and low on different internet sites for a shim this size but have come up with nothing. I know it'll end up being a super thin shim but does anyone know where i could get one or where to get teh sheet metal to make one.

  • Hienz baked bean tins are exactly 0.2mm thick: Job done.
    Coke cans are too thin.

  • Don't use Kronenberg, it is tin and rusts - jamming your seat post in.

Coke, Beer, beans all work fine, used them all over the years for shim material, sounds like you would do ok with two or three wraps of Coke can - which you can cut with scissors.

Don't forget to get a little bit of sand paper and smooth down the cut edges to stop you slicing your fingers off.

  • I've used an old paint tin.
Just so happened that the material was 0.2 mm thick, so that'll add 0.4 to the diameter. Ideal.
