  • Does anyone know a website where me and hippy can get our speed camera photos :D?

Hope 50x14 whathisface is okay, despite agreeing with general feelings about his wayward decision making - and hope Seb & Emily's road rash clears up (hey Emily, what is it with londonfgss blokes with girl's names - is there anyone else out there want to join our club?!?)

Glad to put some names to faces today, and hope to see you out on the road again soon...

  • Matt or Scarlett?

Something like that. brain bit fugged at the time.

  • Bloody hell, I just logged on to to see how it all went - sounds a bit mental.

Just to change topic, did lpg race bmmf up the beacon?

  • BringMeMyFix Does anyone know a website where me and hippy can get our speed camera photos :D?

    Shit yeah! :D

  • flickwg add a 3rd and 4th rule. 3. printout and study the route, 4. get some people's mobile nos. oh, there's a next time? great. nice to be out of the city. how many turned up for the ride by the way? thought the early morning soaking would turn people off

thats alright hippy, spoke to ma3k anyway. dont really expect people to stop their ride to answer the phone. well done on the bitch climb.

  • @lpg - whodyafink? Ambled up though, cos my legs were cramping a bit from descending at 37mph in my 67" gear (the same descent where it all went off a bit later - glad I was up the road).

  • Cheers for a wicked ride guys! Sure I'll see you all soon, and hopefully by that time I would have got the fixie thing sorted out!

  • mashton Bloody hell, I just logged on to to see how it all went - sounds a bit mental.

Ah, I really wanted to! But my bikes drivetrain kept slipping (oh the joys of gears), so i couldn't apply any proper force to the pedals (incase my chain just dropped and my nuts land on the stem). So i didn't feel safe.

He woulda kicked my ass anyway.

  • Hope the Charge Plug was comfy to the end :)

  • I'm not into climbing at the moment - it's so last month. Forgive me father, for I have spinned.

  • ohh btw fatboyralph you can have a spoke card sisnce you did the ride, just not with us

@jackie chan - thanks for helping me up just got a bit shocked after the crash, hope to see you at another ride, maybe come to polo next week

always great to see new faces

  • shit !!! bad news about the stack sore knees and road rash...but gald there was no more carnage!!!

ahem 2nd thanks, or do only fixed riders count? ;o)

  • fucking well done to everyone. got message from the crashed guy:

    "I've a cracked rib and
    collarbone. Bike unblemishd.
    My fault. Please apologise to
the others. I will post in the
    forums. Hope the ride
    continued OK. THANKS AGAIN."

yeah - crazy! i wouldn't do it. i hope no one else does either. but i hope also that he'll be back sometime (having learnt his lesson and got some brakes!). aside from that, fantastic ride, about 20 people, all of the rest of whom made it to brighton in one piece - including emily and sebastian. flickwg: fucking A for doing the spokecards: thanks! they're amazing. and to all: photos up soon (next few days as i have time) and i hope to see all yours soon. oh, and helen will be getting some kevlar tyres pretty soon!

  • And yes, great stuff, all. Good ride, damn tired now and nice to see everyone.
Got back to King's X around 9pm, and it were fricking freezing. Had to pelt it home just to warm up!

I did say my brain was a bit shagged. What am I saying.. yes only fixed riders count! ha! :P

  • Glad to hear 50x14 is 'okay'. Those injuries are gonna take a while to heal though.

I think Brett and Matt are the upcoming kings of the mountains. I might nip back down to Ditchling one morning and spray their names on the road next to Pantani's ;) Hippy probably put out the most power though :P

@DocA - look forward to seeing the pics.

  • powerful roar

  • @BMMF - looking forward to getting more advice about bikes :p (painting and the like). cheers for being such a source of enthusiasm to us all, all day :)

  • Yep, great ride guys, really enjoyed it. Hope you all had something nice to eat in Brighton. I was glad to finally get home and get some food and drink and warmth inside me.

Scarlett (who stormed up) and Brett both beat me up the hill, then it was MA3K and Hippy in that order I think.

Glad to hear that guy is okay, but I'm quite surprised he broke a rib. See you all at the next one, or in Ghent.

  • I need to go back for more of those donuts..

I reckon I would've bailed had I not followed MA3K up Bitchling. I was struggling.. sure I was gonna snap the bars in half at any point! :S

  • 50 x 14 !! Brakeless !! Steep Hills !! First Time Fixed !!

But seriously, get well soon, bad luck with the stack.

  • Good ride all that came. (Just a hint of sarcasm there but not much)
Punctures and hospitalizations withstanding it was a decent ride through some beautiful countryside.

Salient point to take away for next time:
    1) Know your limits (that is addressed specifically to someone but it is too boring to rehash and he has apologised)

Super top bravery award for Emily and Seb for keeping going after they had been taken down like that. Get well soon guys.
Top doctor awards for Andre and Helen for taking matters in hand at the crash site.
Prompt response award for the West Sussex Ambulance service.

I am feeling the pain this morning but I am glad I went on that ride and am stoked about climbing DB on 48 x 16.
