• stompy
Fixedwheelnut
RPM have you intrepid gentlemen considered the wind?

I find just gently riding out of the saddle for a while helps let it out in little fartlets :)

or is that not what you mean't? ;)
Isn't that what the hole in the saddle is for?
LOL perhaps you can play a tune by sliding back and forwards over the holes :D

• Catch you Fartlets tomorrow morning then :p

• Play a tune for me!

I hope you all have a good ride. I wanna see pics of any crashes/arrests.

It's a bit blowy oop north just now, hope it doesn't spoil the fun. Enjoy.

• i'm awake! (and leaving now...)

• anyone know jonny, stompy, hippie, ma3k or bocka mobile number? fatboyralph was late in meeting them and is now trying to catch up with them. hes now at gatwick airport on his way to brighton.

• thanks mate, just hope my husband manage to meet up with them

• sorry boys (and girls), couldn't make it. probably a bit ambitious me thinking i would be up in time the day after my birthday. hope the wind is behind you all.

jonny

• fatboyralph thanks mate, just hope my husband manage to meet up with them

no worries - think they were planning on taking plenty of breaks so he should catch them up

• well waited at corner of brixton hill and streatham pl. no jonny but i thought i wait for a bit assumin the group left late. waited til 10am, thought they've already gone past...so there i go chasin.

didnt get to them. it was a solo effort all the way to brighton. i was hopin id get to them just before they veer off a23. no sight of them...were they behind me!??! i was watchin out at rememberance ceremony sites to see if the crew's in any of em. continued on along a23, only route i know. no idea it was like a fkn motorway after gatwick!!!!

anyway, phoned ma3k about 1pm when i got to brighton. they were stuck somewhere...someone seriously stacked it and had to call for an ambulance. no idea who it was. im home now, but ma3k phoned me bout 15mins ago...they just arrived in brighton.

thanks guys for the phone nos, shouldve done that before today!

• I hope whoever it was is all right...

(happy birthday jonny)

• fatboyralph i'm impressed by your speed and cycling well done

stack was nasty

• Who was involved in the stack seb? Ambulance doesn't sound good

• well the guy in the ambulance will get no sympathy from anyone

Basically stop by a pub to be warned the next hill is steep, this guy walks down he has no brakes and first ride fixed (muppet)
Then next hill little less steep so he tries to go down, i'm talking to object17/emily and he yells "get out the way" way too late hits me, emily and clips mike
So then emily land in the side of the road on some leaves - knee in a bad way
I land on the road - same knee and hand in a bad way
Man - on the floor in pain - cut on his face

Later we find out he broke his clavical / collar bone when he is taken away in ambulace with bike

BTW - local people were very friendly, helpful and kind

Reasons for accident

No brakes
First RIde Fixed gear ratio ... wait for it 50 : 14
The guy was quite old to 59

so he's getting a bill from me for new shorts and undergarments

any questions - ask away

• as the old boy was on the floor did Hippy steal his sandwiches?

• @flickwg: jesus....the first thing i was going to ask before i read your post was whether he was riding brakeless but didn't think for a second anyone would be unless
they were experienced on those kind of hills riding brakeless. Was he insane?
Hope you and emily & object17 are gonna be alright and somehow the ride was salvagable?

• geez. why would you go without brakes at 50x14? thats impossible to stop let alone slowdown. actually though there'd be more stacks. not quite serious but still some more stacks. good to hear all you guys got are slight bruise and ripped shorts

i got to brighton in just over 3hrs coz there were no serious hills on a23...and no stops as it was a bloody motorway...well pretty much. what time did you guys leave hyde park...and around what time were you at brixton. do you remember? just wondering if i was in front or behind you guys. pretty pisssd off i didnt take note of the route and grabbed people's mobile nos beforehand.

• 50x14 WTF. I was on my way to Hyde park (brakeless 49x19) then friend. He got a puncture in west end, between that and the wet roads (making stopping on hills brakeless scary) we dropped out. Hope everyone is OK.

• we got trapped at vauxhall bridge at approx 9:30, that was when i joined, got up late so i think you were probably ahead, we were goiung slow in the city

@PeterD emily is object17 just so you dont get confused, ride was salvageable but just quite sore, things like ditchling are a bitch when you've had a crash and you knee is annoying

@fatboyralph - don;t worry we're thinking about doing another one, 2 rules brakes for beginners and kevlar / puncture proof tires (7 punctures = a lot of waiting)

coolio have not met her and overllooked your /.
good rules!

• sorry to confuse you peter but emily is a guy, theres a story which i'm sure he'll tell u

• Wait, so a 59 year old riding a 50:14 broke his broke his clavicle after crashing down a hill? I blame John(Ma3k). Bet he took you guys on the back roads up the steepest hills. Only joking. Seriously though WTF!

Hope your all ok.

• Yes, very not cool. Sure it will be covered by others.

Brighter note:
After the carnage we pretty much got rolling nicely.
I climbed Bitchling fixed (just).
hippy and bmmf triggered the speed cameras on the way into Brighton (30mph zone I think). :D

Des: Sorry mate, I didn't get your message until just now. I can't hear my phone in the bag and didn't bother checking til now.
Wayne: As above!

My eyes hurt!

• flickwg sorry to confuse you peter but emily is a guy, theres a story which i'm sure he'll tell u
