  • Most tracks, just like Herne Hill have training sessions, Manchester are very strict about who they let on the track, you have to go through a three stage process to get accreditation.

You're best joining in a (london) club trip to Newport or Calshot....they'll have coaches and sometimes are happy to take beginners.....Newport is a wicked track....I've ridden there a few times and the hire bikes are Pinarellos!...I've been there on my own bike and hire bikes.....They're wicked bikes but you do need shoes with Look cleats.

Calshot is something else! I rode there first as a schoolboy...it was an old six-day track....it's been refurbished now but is till one of the shortest (145m??) and steepest tracks you'll ever come across.....you can get motion sickness from the first few laps and my arms often hurt more than my legs from gripping the bars so tight with nerves....again clubs London clubs run trips there.....speak to Ross at Brixton cycles.

It's a pity you didn't sign up for our Rollapaluza Ghent trip....we're full up now.....we will probably organise a trip to Manchester to watch the next Revolution meeting there on January 12th.....Britains next best thing to a six-day....great racing but lacking in atmosphere.

If you're already an experienced track rider / racer you do not need a British license to race in Britain, you can race with any countries license ....you may need a letter from your federation.....Herne Hill always have non-licensed racing at some point during the season too......
