Not too tricky- leather cuts pretty easily. Got a cheap old Team Pro of eBay and took a knife to it. Despite wobbly hand it ended up with a profile more like a swallow. You do have to string it to support it which makes it look a bit bondage though. And watch out for elderly second-hands- the leather around the brass studs is starting to go on mine
