alot depends on finding some new decals

I can't find anyone in France to do this

So I did a search and it comes down to three of four options

    Mercian Cycles
    Bob Jackson
    Argos in Bristol
    or Vaz in London

If I decide to go with it
I will need decals, an exact paint match, rechome & and hand lining

who do you think is going to do best

I reckon Mercian but I dunno if I can wait six months or longer

    any ideas peeps....?

  • vaz doesn't rechrome, does he?

  • colourtech in crayford are meant to be good. they do chas roberts painting.

  • I;m expecting to pick up a frame from colourtech in the next week. will post up some pics when i do...

  • where is crayford and do colourtech have a link..?

  • Could try somewhere in Italy for the authentic refinishing. Just a random suggestion. I understand it's probably not that easy.

  • crayford is in kent. 30 mins on train from london bridge and a 5 min bike ride at the other end (i live in elephant and castle so it was piss easy to get to) I don;t think they have a website - i;ve only got directory references when i try searching for them in the past. The telephone number is 01322 555 549 and i think the guy is either called dave or david.

The workshop looked great. they were doing a bunch for condor and widcomb when i was there... and also (name drop name drop) they were respraying eric clapton's cinelli (i;ve mentioned this in a previous thread... probably sounds like i;m deadly impressed with that fact)

  • now that doesn't too bad at all, and London area is proper convenient

  • i always thought if you wanted the best and didn't mind paying for it then go for Argos.

thinking of sending my Raleigh off for respray

  • Argos have the best reputation I think and are official painters for many makes. Current discusussion may be of interest on the Retrobike forum:

Search Argos on there too for lots more...

  • buddha: My mercian frame is at mercian at the moment, it was supposed to be a 4 week turnaround, it's actually going to be 5-6 weeks cos the resprayer was off ill. But they have been very helpful so far. I'll put some pics up as soon as it's done.

  • BTW, anyone know who does Condor's paint?

  • see post above, colourtech do condors.

  • so far then
    Argos, Colourtech or Mercian

  • Colourtech did my Witcomb, and it wasn't that good.
