I'd thought about that but then decided just to stick with it on the right. Left is also better for the curving of the brake cable.

UK = right = front brake.
-
• #4
left = good for polo if right handed

unless you're a lefty.....

this has been covered before.....
I have brake on left ....because a right-hand signal is far more important to give than a left and you're likely to need to do it for a longer time....with a brake on the left you can signal right and brake at the same time......I got used to it in about 20 seconds and swap from my fixie to road / mountain bike all the time...it's not a problem.
It's like people who worry about driving on the left....once you've done it...it's easy as is swithcing from one to the other and you wonder why you ever worried about it!

yeah, what winston said - you get used to it real quick

Fixie (When it had a brake) - Right hand = front brake
BMX - Right hand = rear brake
Mountain Bike - I couldn't honestly tell you without getting on the bike. That's just my preference though.

it's for anyone who wants to avoid being steam-rollered by some dickhead, engine-powered ignoramus.....self-preservation is not very anarchic I know...."sorry"
When riding home for central London I have to turn sharp right off Seven Sisters Road at a point where all traffic is doing 30mph....across two lanes, not only is riding close to the speed of traffic a good idea, but signalling is too.....if you wanna try the same without signalling good luck to ya.

with you on that winston. seems logical in the uk for a front brake to be left handed (for right or left handed fixed wheel peeps, not including polo of course). i use signals when needed, and i also wear a lid :O
-
• #12
winston, i know exactly that junction and i hate it too! haven't yet tried it on my fixie, tho, gotta be honest

Left brake is more logical - right brake more artistic....
-

Think about it...
Having brake on right (in UK) is a safety feature to stop daftness, like grabbing lever while holding on to a moving bus - just plain stupid ;)
brake-lever left side to be able do important stuff ( to hold mobile, ipod, coffee) with the right hand ?
Or shall just ride freehanded without any handlebar to get rid of the question ?
