Empty7, what are your company limiting you to? Also, you should speak to Putney Cycles and see if they would be willing to maybe just do you a frame, they aren't supposed to but maybe they would if you asked them?
-

Limiting me to £500 as I'm bogin off to Aus next year, even though it was me that won the prize and came up with the f-ing idea in the first place! I'll go ask them at Putney i reckon. Can I ask what the damage was for your total or did you build bits up yourself?
-
• #29
Harsh that with the £500 limit. You'll be pressed to get a BJ built up for that.

It came to around £1200 but I got some very nice kit on there. They do their standard bike for £850 which is in itself a very nice bike, open pros, stronglight cranks etc. The thing is the only people who need to know what you actaully get from them are you and the shop, they can put whatever on the form they send back. Have a word mate, you never know. I would suggest going in to do so though, you'll get a better reaction, they might think you're working for the scheme if you call up and just say no.

hippy On-One do their Team Superlight fullcarb for £999 with full Ultegra
http://www.planet-x-bikes.com/triathlon/index.php?module=pagemaster&PAGE_user_op=view_page&PAGE_id=335This would be nice if I fitted it. Not sure about the quality?
That was exactly the bike I was thinking when you said 1k and carbon. Can't be bad quality, I think one one /planet x seem to have a good reputation and there full carbon bike has been out for quite a while now, long enough to get any bad reviews coming back. Their time trail bike got good reviews.
This person likes it.

Yeah, I was thinking that. That's when it was £1100 and only had 105 too. Now it's £100 less with Ultegra.
Still not sure about ride and stuff.. I'd like to test ride one ya know? Hmm.. -

Benanza/Andrew - yeah I know... the scumsuckers with their 500 quid limit! I reckon the plan is to blag just the BK frame and the hubs if they can. Store them for the next 6 months and when i've moved the Perth, source the other parts and start the build when i'm over there. Got the Fuji till I go and more than happy with it till then. Just didnt want to get to Oz without a British frame. Patriot!

I'll be in Middle-Perth in Sept, e7, I can possibly drag some stuff over for ya.

BRM, that would be fantastic. Don't know the local outlets out there yet. I reckon it;s a hell of a lot more expensive than here though.
Many Thanks

Drop me an email, when you have yourself sorted. -

Does anyone know if you can set up cycle scheme through your own limited company?
I'd consider setting one up in order to get a shiny new bike.

• #38
Absolutely fine. Trouble is, with no taxable income you could be in a potentially difficult position costs wise.
-
• #39
Thats great! Im going to do it.
So... whats the best OTP fixie for a grand?
-
• #40
I can do you a Charge Plug for a grand. Can't see that you'll do better than that.
-
• #41
Cant get a straight fucking answer on this forum.

If you don't UTFS, you don't get to call me gay.
-
• #43
Well, Im not at the moment. Im using an umbrella company, but for various reasons that arrangement needs to change. Limited company = new bike = win.

• #44
jesus!
could I keep setting up companies and paying myself a few grand through each and setting up cycle scheme and ebaying bikes?
cycle scheming!

You're an evil genus Balki.
-
• #46
Can I be an employee Balks? You wouldn't need to pay me. Just let me do the scheme.

Hmmm... I could do with a secretary. Pics?

plot fail...he would need to pay you so that the bicycle would actually get paid for, out of your wages in 10 monthly installments before tax + NI. but you could slip him a cash bung of the mimimum monthly payment, every month and he could pay you the minimum to cover the monthly bike payment. that would be well dodgy but is probably legal.

i did it too...piece of cake.
plus you don't need to buy a full bike. you can take your £1k voucher to blb or 14 and just buy a frame. bear in mind they will charge you 10% for cashing your £1k voucher...i.e. £100
sounds sweet benanza, looking forward to the photos. Looks like I'm going to have to buy the BJ complete with the cycle scheme. Going to get the frame and get them to build it with the cheapest components and flog them off as work is limiting me to the amount they'll let me have. At least i'll have the frame I can dash under the bed for 12 months while I source better parts and build it up from scratch.
