I got me a brooks pro with a bit of history, so far it's lovely and comfortable. My dad told me to stick a bag over it if it looks like rain (thats what he did, and hence why it hasnt had to be tightened in 20 years). Like the idea of keeping it through the rails, but I soaked mine in neats foot oil before I fitted it so it still stinks under there :S
