  • nimhbus: trial and error dude. Some shops let you test ride saddles for a week.. well in Oz they did. Borrow spare saddles off mates and ride 'em a long way.
    Basically, I liked Flite saddles and rode them for ages but decided I wanted to try some of the newer Selle Italia stuff. This involves shelling cash out on ebay saddles (half rrp or less) and riding them. If you don't like, put them back on ebay. You like you keep. I know not everyone has this luxury but it worked for me. SLR has a cheaper XP option for example but some numpties pay over the odds for it thinking "XP" = better. Just know what they go for and don't pay over the odds.
    Also I used to shuffle through the old stock bins in bike shops looking for saddle bargains. I had another vague-arse point but I've lost it.. oh that's right.. try to narrow down the SHAPE of the saddle that seems more comfortable and then refine your choice on that. I found flatter saddles like the Flite and SLR were much better for my butt than those rounded-at-the-sides San Marco Rolls style..
