andrewleitch86 Some chavs through a pretty big stone at my wheels when I was riding through Redcar, near Middlesbrough, last week. Does that count as bike polo?
What the hell were you doing in redcar? That's near where i'm from, sort of.

le car
winston It's a great article...can only lead to more teams springing up so you'll have more out of towners to play against.
Typically, it's poorly researched though....I thought it was Ross of Brixton cycles (amongst others) who kick-started the urban hard-court polo scene in London at least two years ago....
Indeed, Ross, Keith, and some other realengers used to play somewhere south of the river... I don't know if theirs was that close to the NYC version we play now (mostly fixed gear, mallet tossing, foot down etc...)
Ross and Wee Scott started us playing exactly the same version (ie US rules) a couple of years ago. I think Ross had picked it up while living on the West coast. Valentine's day alleycat 2006 was a multi day event - first day teams of three racing, second day a polo championship. My team came second so I remember it! I also remember that my leg of the race was about 30 miles in 2 hours - the name tough love should have warned me.

The same thing has been going on for ages, take the adverts for a small car (either a kia or a coursa) "Rip curl" car, rip off of surf culture. Some nissan x trail where the car is being used as a skate board, because it's an urban 4x4, it only because it is people who want to buy these dull cars brand new want to kid themselfs that they are not dull.
