  • I got the bike built up by andy pancake at cavendish, and asked for the bars to be taped from the top to halfway down the bars, since on me road bike I rarely use the drops, so figured I'd spend more time with my hands up by the stem and on the top half of the drops. Somewhere along the way this was miscommunicated and the bars were taped from the drops upwards, when they told me I asked for that to be rectified, but because I also have some of those lovely bar end lights which need to be secured with tape so they don't fall out, that wouldn't have worked, so what you see is the compromise situation of having tape at the top and bottom of my bars but not in the centre.

    I thank you.

Was thinking of having it retaped but its growing on me so I'll leave it for the time being

  • happy belated, andrew. forgot to say that today when i saw you. hope you enjoy the prints.

gotta say, the bar end lights are lovely. oh, and i will post a pic etc up sometime - am still trying to figure out some bits on the bike.

  • you do realise that the best way to keep a ti frame looking unmarked is a light rubbing with baby oil [keeps grease marks from fingers away]

it can be difficult to explain to gf's and partners...

  • what are them rims mister blackfoot? oh and the hubs also for that matter...

not sure I have it in me to be rubbing my bike with baby oil, though I did see this on t'bay, may grab it and give the new bike a good long rub down...

silasmellor what are them rims mister blackfoot? oh and the hubs also for that matter...

the rims are some red ambrosio excellence I think, originally built up in 2000, I was just looking for red rims and got them on t'bay for 40 notes, the hubs are red phils low flange, cause everyone's going high flange and I like to be different/difficult

  • I'm kinda fussy when it comes to the flange, too.

  • I tend to take whatever's offered on here.. ;)

  • oooops, careful mr cornelius, jewellers rouge is a mild abrasive [used to take surface scratches out] - not recommended for general maintenance

seriously fella, gotta be the baby oil.

  • cornelius blackfoot me: for some reason my friends call me scooter when I wear this hat

me bike: and before you ask, yes it is titanium.

might change the gearing to 48:18 so I can learn to skid stop, right now its 48:16. Apart from that its great

Hi Cornelius. I drove past you on Saturday afternoon in a black Mk 1 Golf cabriolet on the Kennington Lane up towards Elephant. I slowed down a bit to study your bike! ;-)

was in the cycling zone - avoiding potholes, checking lights, and trying to catch the eye of the young ladies, so didn't notice, was heading up to brick lane to buy some work from the joyride exhibition. enjoying the good weather we're having, and also trying to recover from big sessions on thurs and fri nights...
