One of my favorite newspapers
+one of my favorite sports
quite a good article in fact. Not too many facts wrong, the juxtaposition of the pics was almost perfect (they should have chosen a more "punk" player, i.e. Rob RJM maybe).
Ive seen too many articles on skateboarding in years treat the subject like a kid's play. This was actually quite respectful. I'm more worried about the C4 online thingy

winston It's a great article...can only lead to more teams springing up so you'll have more out of towners to play against.
Typically, it's poorly researched though....I thought it was Ross of Brixton cycles (amongst others) who kick-started the urban hard-court polo scene in London at least two years ago....
Indeed, Ross, Keith, and some other realengers used to play somewhere south of the river... I don't know if theirs was that close to the NYC version we play now (mostly fixed gear, mallet tossing, foot down etc...)

"today we are at URBAN BIKE POLO (slanty shot, zoom in and out), Here is Rakan to tell us more, (slanty shot up nose to back of head in black and white to side shot)"

Keith is real but he's not a "Makenger"

Nice pic, but the image editor forgot the unsharp mask when they printed it - all a bit blurry. Feel sorry for the photographer.
Slamm - shame they didn't use some of your pics!

Brooklyn Kid font must feature in the title sequence please.

Damn, you all beat me to it. Normally I've at least skimmed through the main section of the Guardian by 10am every weekday :) (25p student price, whey!)
I thought it wasn't too bad an article. It could have been a lot worse. As Winston said it'll get more people playing but a few are always going to be against it.
I really want to sort myself out a polo bike. I've got a wheelset at home which I could use... Admitedly it's a singlespeed hub but could always suicide it up. Plus I just love building bikes.

Yeah its just publicity, unless its written by someone who plays and has an intimate knowledge of it it is never going to be spot on, especially once its edited down and stuff and messed about with.
I think her research was pretty good, stuff about Ross starting it etc. she knew. Its just the limits of the medium and getting the info across.

OK that C4 web thing is in fact a semi-advertorial for Ford (!).
Watched the shows and you can rest assured that we are going to be presented as some hip zippy flash fun cool dudes doing a wow awesome killer mega new sport.
Some of the girls presenting are quite attractive I must say. They even go to my friend's party (Swaparama at Favela) and undress him at some point.
