  • Troll alert.

Like we don't have decent bikes. Tsk. No fecking idea that man, none at all.

  • Come on don't judge too soon, he is obviously just in need of some friends.

Ross, why don't you join us all for tomorrow night's halloween ride? We can check out your decent bike. Just before we drop you like a fucking piano up any hill in London you care to mention.

    What about it?

  • Mouse Good point. David K could you change the URL to londonfgss&bmx.com?

    BMX's are single or fixed.

    It's not londontrackbikesemulatingsffixedfashion.com

  • Actually, you don't need to change the URL - BMXs are single speed.

Serotta, Bob Jackson - must try harder ;o)

  • D'oh beat me to it.

I know, and a 24" Haro BMX too.

And then there's the classic Swinnerton tourer.

And yesterday I purchased a Thorn Audax for my girl.

Such a terrible stable I have.

    Must try harder.

Er, yes. I'm on it. Have been for a while, spoken to onetwentyeight many times, given advice on the tech side of the forum, etc.

    However, some of the fashion...

  • Fair point, well made. There is definitely a tendency towards the 'Pedal Mafia' look over here but, eh - Americans. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm off to powdercoat my Aerospoke glittery gold and chop another 3cm off each side of my pink risers...

  • I would argue that fewer people here (UK) ride fixedwheels for style reasons only. Maybe because there's more of a culture of track racing, or just generally more cyclists per capita. I mean what you described above isn't really the norm.

    Get me?

  • Totally.

One of my first experiences with a fixed-gear rider over here was being loudly berated outside an LBS by some piss-head with a 3Rensho for buying a set of Rubinos (bear in mind that this was at about 2pm) because 'they skid through in a fuckin week, MAN!'. When I told him that I run a front brake, so it wasn't such an issue, he promptly called me a pussy and wandered off, still walking his bike.

I've seen him around town a few times since, always with his bike, but never once riding it. Arsehole. Sorry - *ass*hole.

I'm actually in SF, by the way.

A see a huge number of people here trying to look like they ride fixed (road bikes with only a front gear and plenty of spoke cards).

Someone should make up some spoke cards for tagging cyclists guilty of this offence. Your souplesse is hopeless perhaps?

there are always poseurs everywhere at least those lot don't ride around brakeless flat pedals with a slack chain... AND, a lot of couriers don't actually ride fixed they ride geared bikes hybrids mtbs whatever they like or put together... who cares what they ride and what alleycats they've done? my guess is by now the number of couriers who ride fixed is already totally outnumbered by so called fakengers now.
