-
• #1281
yah, well i missed it :/
i know it was big size - was just gonna build to have fun really, learn more about bikes, etc, see if i could ride it and so on. guess i've got enough stuff going on, tho, and no doubt see other frames and bikes about. damn! hehehe - i'm gonna go have a beer anyway -
• #1282
don't see it as a loss cause there frame up on ebay all the time. the thing with conversions is look at clearance, and dropouts and also the shape of the forks.
i dunno i guess differant people like differant styled and looking frames, i wouldn't have personally gone for that one becasue once you strip it down it'll look very differant...plenty more fish in the sea and all thathas quite a nice shape

doca - got my folks to bid on that bob jackson for me, the guy sent me some more pics but I was at a mate's house with no internet when it finished... components (&wheels) looked a bit rusty, but the frame looked good, and nice nervex-style lugs. would have been a full day mission to pick it up, too, though. if it's any consolation, I'm also pissed I missed it...

^^Saw that too!
Sadly cheap cranks (pressed crank-spider interface), cheap-looking pedals, and suicide brakes (with second levers to use on the tops) would indicate a cheapo steel frame. I think £125 is a bit steep unless the seller can confirm the frame material as 531 etc. - you may be paying for the Motobecane name.. Also I think they are French, so a possibility of BB threading issues? buyer beware! -

hey, thanks for the commiserations. i was totally gutted but am getting over it now... especially as i just found a beaut of an old raleigh abandoned in school (uni) bike sheds and am trying to figure out how to make it mine. need advice about getting through D-locks - anyone?
ibob - i'm looking forward to seeing you again next week
EDIT: friends bike was nicked the other day too, so justified the money i didn't spend on the bob jackson by buying another hefty lock this a.m. problem was, i did have at least 2 friends going to notts for a day or two in teh next week, so picking that bike up wouldn't have been so bad...and even if not, return from st pancras on saturday was less than 30 quid. ggrrrrr

Don't use a high street bank for money transfers or money orders to Europe. They are a joke!
I use a licensed money broker beaureau de change type who mainly services ebay buyers/sellers but will let you send Euro MO or transfers or US$ MO for peanuts. Been ebaying since '96 and not found better...
Ha!
I understood you alright - just thought I would confirm your hunch with my own dodgy experience.
