looks like it should

Should do.
-
• #4
yeah it should. note the seller reckons there is no braking surface - you might want to think of that if you're going SS
-
• #5
No way to get a lockring on there either, don't go (front) brakeless.
-
• #6
yeah freewheel or nasty suicide hub option
-
• #7
If you do go suicide, make sure you rotafix the cog on.
-
• #8
eeehhhh If you do go suicide, make sure you rotafix the cog on.
that's not enough, i tried it too. must use loctite.
-
• #9
If he is going SS (not fixed) then the suicide hub shouldn't be a problem - although you will need a braking surface on the rim, otherwise you cannot run a rear brake.

looks like an old cassette wheel, maybe 5spd. dont do it.

JP WELD! or epoxy. about 90% guaranteed to get you fucked up.

Yeah, forgot to mention loctite!

you'll have a crap chainline as the wheel is dished but it's cheap

On a recent thread it was pointed out that braking surfaces only appeared in the last 10 years or so. That wheel looks fairly old, so this may apply. You can still run a brake on it. (why would a geared racing bike have no brakes? :)

i think i may just leave it and get something a bit newer just to be safe. seeing as its ebay and i cant actually hold the wheel in my hands and see whatll fit id rather just pay a bit more for something thatll work.
ALSO!!
has anyone got any links or know any bike shops that do wheel builds where you can just choose the parts and they knock it up for ya. including fixed hub & a sprocket

"...a recent thread it was pointed out that braking surfaces only appeared in the last 10 years or so"
That would be machined braking surfaces, yeah you can use brakes on this rim. And if you fit a ss freewheel or fixed sprocket, you would need to redish the wheel.

betd will do a full wheel build it seems...
I think this is as cheap, if not cheaper than buying the hubs/rims/spokes/rimtape and then taking it to LBS.
