You dont need to be going fast though. I'd recommend you start slowly and work your way up. what matters is that your weight is off the back wheel, not the speed you're going, and it takes a bit of time to get this right.
You can try doing it at top speed first, but you may very well just hit the tarmac VERY hard. and in an odd angle too, if you're leaning forward. :)
