Hi there,

I’ve been loitering in the dark ( ? ) watching this site for some time and pulling together parts for a 700c fixed wheel bike – with brakes!

I’ve finally plucked up the courage to join (read be kind)

My current stable consists on mainly the 26’’ wheeled variety with a variety of gears (including single speed)

So that’s it really my brief introduction – hope its in the right category?!

Ah one other thing 130/135mm spaced flipflop hubs/wheel – any suggestions?

Total newbie too, I clearly know less than letmetalktomark but I know I like riding bikes.
going fixie soon, felt very natural when I was borrowing everyones bikes at sunday polo. Can't wait to get started learning some tricks so I can be as cool all of you. ;)

Depends on how much you've got to spurt on a wheelset... I was on a budget so paid out on rear wheel (on-one FF hub on Mavic Open Sport rim) and just got a shimano R500 for the front.

aidan, i'm still chuckling at the "i don't get angry" comment at the bike polo.

If you mean by hit, picking up a polo mallet...then no I practised some lame trackstands for all of 2 seconds...that was me.

Me and some other chicks are plannig to pick up polo sticks and start practising but not in front of the boys..not yet anyway.

But I did see you at the dragonbar dogsballs, liked the explanation of your nickname.

The New York lot have girls polo, since the boys are too rough.

But all of us boys here are all wussies, so you've got no excuses :-)

Not a hipster – hippy maybe ? been meaning to do the fixed “thing” thing for ages – keen on not wanting to be dubbed a courier wannabe, no disrespect to couriers ?

Helmet – yes. Its taken a long time to cram my head full of this rubbish I don’t want to loose it now!

photoben – frame (noting special) carbon fork, stem, bars, chainset, front wheel, brakes! Really need a back wheel though! Not looking to spend much money yet as the bike is being built up using spares ?
