  • for my new baby, she's vintage so i decided to ditch the very popular choice of going for a modern/vintagey look and give thi beauty the look she really deserves, my thought was to get campy hubs, rims or ambrosio ones, and have a crow's foot lacing but then i saw the fancy three leading three trailing????or shall i just go for a classic 3 cross?

  • just go for classic.. nothing really beats it!

  • i get it but 3x or crow's foot?

  • just a classic 3x for me.

  • dunno what your new(old) frame is, so i guess that's the first question.

secondly, are you aiming for a period-correct restoration, or just want to do it up nice and aesthetically pleasing?
    pictures would be nice...

  • 3leading 3trailing got me a scolding from the hetchins archivist (not period correct), but i think it's lovely, and compliments the frame.
in fact, there are a number of incorrect bits on my bike; some of them offend me, and are there sheerly for practical reasons.
the wheels, however, despite being very incorrect (they're 700c rather than 26"ers; hubs and lacing all new-fangled), i adore.

  • What frame you got Stef?
How about some sweet tubular rims? Seen some nice gold nisi ones on t'bay.

  • got some tub rims up for free if you want them stef. old and a bit dirty came with an ebay buy not wanted, rim only though. if your interested ill put up some pics

  • stef - the gold spoke card will look sweet against that frame -

nice score on the frame by the way!

  • ta squire!

  • very nice!
imho, go with classic on this one; clean straight lines.
