now love: trying to ride up/ down headington hill without looking like a retard. -

Tommy, i agree with you about roundabouts. If you catch the lights, they're great. York way is pretty shit for cycling, especially with all the construction traffic. I like highgate hill, you'll never go as fast on a bike in London without going down that hill, i reckon Well, north/central london at least...
What do you guys think is the best Borough for cycling? Which spends the most on roads?
I think .. kensington and chelsea. -

anyone tried the cycle to st. albans? st albans road is absolutely geniously plans as it turns into an M road for a couple of miles and then back to a shit road again... was slightly surprised to find myself on a motorway all of a sudden...

Yes! On the way to manchester, we rode that. A5?. It was a bit scary with lorries shooting by.. if you start at marble arch and just follow the edgware road northbound...you end up in manchester.
Interesting.

russell sq into bernard st and then flying around the roundabout into guilford st, always been a favourite apart from when i lived south and used to do the embankment to victoria station pissed from the duke of york to get the last train wobbling from one side to the other at a pace.
worst is anywhere in the city now coppers hiding behind bushes, bus stops, alleys and so n so to give you tickets! -

love: riding during the final england game of the football world cup. as soon as the game started I was on on my bike. zero cars. the east-end was mine
hate: balls pond road (trucks, bendy busses...) -

BringMeMyFix This is obviously London's proper nightmare street:
This can also get a bit scary (80s synths optional):

don't like: marylebone high street on account of all the complete mongs in massive cars who look at you like you're some kind of soap dodging anarchist with faeces for a face just because you don't quite see the need for a fucking enormotron porsche cayenne to drive your two small offspring from regent's park to the conran shop to shop for rugs woven with berber hair and other such random things.
like: marylebone high street because i enjoy hugely the narrowness of the street; it allows me to occupy the whole lane and slow the inexorable progress of the huge car-small-cock/ brain/ imagination/ soul/ spirit wealthocrats for just a few minutes. i can sense the frustration as they realise that their oversized BMW is doomed to a life of less-than-thirty mph, and i love it, i feel righteous, i feel like a right old fashioned marxist crusader, all for a few seconds. then reality kicks in and i feel shallow and ashamed.

oooh ohhhhh, hippy will back me, the underpass on marylebone high st, particularly when it's jammed solid and you can absolutely smoke it through the traffic without fear of numpty peds stepping out!!!

megaman2016 Hate everywhere that hasnt got new tarmac laid, damm these third world streets of london
I second that: between buckingham palace and hyde park corner is a nightmare, the queen obviously doesn't cycle...Love: lower/upper Thames street-embankment, quickest way between aldgate and embankment
Hate: the motorcycle-chav kicking my rear wheel and chasing me 'cause he didn't expect me taking him over on old street this morning. I'm faster than your shiny 1000cc ass. -

yeah, they don't like being overtaken in traffic for some reason or when u rlj in front of em.

I think .. kensington and chelsea. The roads are pretty damn smooth... but too many Chelsea Tractors to be really safe - worse than black cabs IMHO.
Love: the mall - Wellington Arch up to Admiralty House... if the lights are with you... Spin spin...

Nup, don't know what you're talking about. Do you mean the Euston underpass on Euston Rd?
http://www.bbc.co.uk/london/content/webcams/547361.shtml
MapIf that's what you really meant then I'm totally with you! 50-60kph down through there and 90% of the time without trouble from anything. Sometimes a scooter blocks the middle 'lane' but mostly its HAMMER TIME.

Love: Elgin Avenue - 2.5 minute flattish sprint on a really nice surface, Shepherds Bush Green going West from Holland Park in the morning. North London's Hills, even though I'm still crap at them.
Hate: Shepherds Bush Green going East pm rush hour. -

I pass that everyday..staying above ground most days because there is haevy traffic and drivers seem to be especially inconsiderate down there in the abyss..."Abandon all hope, ye who enter here"

Really? That's the fastest section of my commute, down there (unless I get a rare clear run down Holland Park Ave). Plus, you skip a set of lights.

yep, that underpass. i used to go above until i realised the rush. stop.......hammer time.
-

Same, when I changed office (again) I was going above not realising it was just a straight through underpass - I thought surely not, there must be a turn off or something. After a couple of rides I watched a car go all the way through and then next time went through myself. Easy peasy lemon squeeeeeezy. I like that stretch when it's not rammed.

well yeah maybe am am there later the day and the underpass is deadly rammed always...
hate(ed): gracechurch street but now it's partly resurfaced
hate: most roads in hackney because broken glass grows out of them
love: the downhill from mount pleasant post office all the way over blackfriers bridge up to the first set of lights after the bridge (even though road surface could be a bit better in parts)
love: bombing round south of trafalgar square into whitehall and getting lucky with the lights at that junction
