adoubletap
The bumpy-as-fnck main drag thru Camberwell/Peckham has to be the worst road in the universe.
I think the 436 buses hitting it 24 hours a day have just mashed it, so in need of a resurface.
I've been commuting since May or so from Lewisham and coming back down OKR between 4.25-4.45 which was a doddle until the last few weeks when traffic seems to have just ground to a halt with no room to filter any side.
where abouts do you live in lewisham?? -

Karl Richmond park at night is awesome! Just gotta watch out for the deer & rodents running into your spokes & have good lights.
Very eirie and usually a good 3 degrees colder.
Good p[lace for a night ride maybe
karl you got me thinking, would anyone be up for a night parks ride, possibly starting or finishing at richmond park, since we all seem to be in agreement about riding at night so maybe we could combine riding thru parks at night as well

Love Docklands, Jerningham Rd (up AND down), busting through busy traffic.
Hate Elephant & Castle roundabout. Well all of it really, what a shithole.

Mouse +1 for hating New Oxford St (Bendy Buses!)
+1 for hating Kingsway / Theobolds Rd (after yesterdays events)
+1 for loving Richmond ParkAnd the random road that I love: Bernard St - one way, south side of Brunswick centre: good tarmac and perfect gradient where 48x16 seems to spin all on its own.
It doesn't matter if they bend or not they're wide and i just get sandwiched between so many of them especially between ox circ and primark, the other end isnt so bad, the road is a tad wider

Edgware road northbound from Marble Arch to the A40 flyover, not coz of the surface but every time i've along there i've had an incident , white van man either up my arse or someone just flinging a door open, seems to be a particular spot for boy racers too.....maybe its just me going too slow!!!!
Strangely i luv bombing it down Oxford St, maybe coz years as a motorist it was forbidden during the day + seeing those miserable peeps sitting grim faced on the buses as you whizz past.

hate: old kent road...used to live new x...nightmare commute.
: oxford street obviously and trying to leave soho in the evening...can be testing.
love: docklands/canals/victoria park/london wall at night.

Cornelius, start a new thread.
It could be called "Follow that bike around the parks at night to see if it is Titanium"

hyde park gets closed at 12pm ;)
also another favourite is Park Lane in the middle of the night, having 4 lanes of traffic to yourself and seeing foxes running across the road.

Hate everywhere that hasnt got new tarmac laid, damm these third world streets of london

Sucks:
pOxford St.
Holland Puke AveNice:
Outside London (yes it does exist!)
Drafting buses, etc. on the less-trafficked lengths of fUxbridge rd. -

"Drafting buses, etc. on the less-trafficked lengths of fUxbridge rd."Now that does not exist.
Good:
City late at night
Cannon st on to fleet street on to AldwychBad: Lower lea crossing in rush hour in the dark. Cars doing 60 mph in a 40 zone as you pedal up a hill, wich has a head wind no matter what.
Commercial road. -

Lower Lea crossing - haven't used that since I lived out there - I take it the bike path is covered in glass still?

Northbound from marble arch (the A5) ..doesn't intersect the A40. Next big road is the north circular junction (staples corner).
My best place would be the regents canal, or the cycle lane parallel to park lane, i love oxford street too.
My worst place - i'm not sure what it was called but it's on the way to canary wharf...a massive, complicated, at times hilly tunnell with cars doing 50mph. Fkn scary, that was.

Hate: charing x road (trafalgar sq end especially) - i'd say worse than oxford st for people walking into the middle of the road infront of you. AND i have to ride it every day to get to college.
Also hate: covent garden. Annoying roads and fscking cobbles!
Like: All the big wide flat smooth roads in west london. Escaping picadilly/oxford circus onto the nice roads towards regent's park. surviving the junction right next to my house.

Surely I'm not the only one who loves the E & C roundabout? Coming up from Camberwell and catching the roundabout at full speed with a lucky gap in the traffic is awesome.
I love doing similar on Hyde Park corner too :-)
Hate the tarmac waves outside the old Middlesex hospital on Goodge Street. God awful...

+1 to the cobble hating. Bloody nightmare on these bikes we ride ;-)

can second the gate for tollington park, that is basically gravel made from bitumen...

Now that does not exist. What doesn't? Low traffic fuxbridge? It does out my way. The road gets a bit wider, traffic a bit less after peak hour..

Just off Loampit Hill but moving to fancy schmancy (for lewi) Manor Park in a couple of weeks.

you sir probably survived the Limehouse Link. Having never really driven in London I took the Google maps recommended route through there once too... thought I was going to die; stifling hot, filthy air burning your mouth and aforementioned mental drivers. shudders

love: park lane, when you hit the lights right and hoof it down to hyde park corner and that great great roundabout, as I'm always heading south you then shoot straight down the back of bucki palace towards victoria.
loved the run from charing cross road, junction of shaftesbury avenue, down to trafalgar sq, and then down to parliament sq, before they put in all the traffic lights and the extra roundabout. When you got that right back in the day you'd end up drafting a bus all the way to big ben. That was a great great bit of fun city cycling. Its shit now, too stop and start.

Knew i liked you for a reason.
I commute between Brockley and Chelsea, and there just seems to be no way to avoid that strip of goat track.
