  • Live round the corner from Witcombs but that little daydream has gone tits up so has anyone got any experience of these builders?

Some classic old tubing available and looks like £400-600 depending on extras...

    Steve Goff

anyone know what tyres these are, I want some!

  • erm, just tubes?!

  • I got a Steve Goff Prodigy set up fixed and love it.
I wouldnt have a problem having a new frame from them in the future, that is the plan

Look like old, or at least old-style white wall jobbies. Usually see 'em on beach cruisers but i'm sure some googling will find 700c version..

  • Talk to Barrie before you do anything daft.

    Seriously.

  • wot, you mean he'll do you a special price (ie pre-rebranding/makeover) if he knows you're a "real" cyclist?

  • I 'm thinking of ordering a TIG welded reynolds 853 or columbus spirit road frame from Steve Goff.
I 'm intent of building the most competitive i can with carbon rear triangle-fork etc.
Any thoughts or experiences about his performance with TIG will help.

  • no experience of Goff frames but if you are after oversize tigged steel then a Rourke would also be worth a look.

top choice on spirit. it will be a million miles away from a noodly stovepipe 531 frame.
personally i wouldn't bother with a carbon back end (unless the builder strongly recommended it)

  • I don't know about his tig welding, but the quality and finish of my lugged 753 frame is fantastic.

Mrs Myth: "I'm not sure that I want a carbon rear triangle."

Terry Dolan (lacing up his boxing gloves): "I strongly recommend it."

Mrs Myth: "Great. I'll have that then."

  • Love my Steve Goff frame, took an age to build but the workmanship and finish is exceptional.

No idea about the tig weld, but his fillet braze work is very very nice.

    Ha!

  • gizmond is it yours thats the purple track with hexagonal tubing?

  • oh lord have mercy on my soul thats beautiful!

  • nice. looks like some kind of variation on max tubing

  • Columbus Hexagonal.

Never a tube set, just 3 main tubes. One from the Gilco house. They didn't make much of it, so you don't see it alot.

    Very rigid for its weight.

  • I love my Goff. Steve's a good guy, but you do have to keep on top of him.
Again I've never seen his tig stuff, but my frame is finished to a great standard.
