The chainring ain't flat. It's, how can I put this.....

It mounts on the outside of the spider but the chainline is inside the spider.
If yer put it on the table teeth down, the mounting holes would be 5mm or so off the table.
It's a cheap n' nasty crank repurposed for fixie idiots who'll pay over the odds fer any old shite. byercycles have it for 29 notes, i'm sure you can score a BB for a tenner.
I suspect you can source this crank with two chainrings for way less.
