  • Hey need to get the girlfriend a basket for her shopper bike for her birthday on Friday...erk! I know I'm leaving it late, anyone know a shop in London where I can get one please? Preferable a wicker one, but anything right now!

is still being sold (i think) in the Scandinavian design section (basement) of Selfridges.

    "girlfriend".

No doubt she will need to store many cameras in there and as such it needs to be sturdy.

from a female point of view that is lovely but wicker is classic..... wish i could have a basket on my bike. it would just look crap though

  • Cheers guys, that's great!

not the cheapest around but with a postal strike on and it being wednesday may be your best bet. Go with wicker, metal ones look rubish.

  • Halfords used to do them for about £15 and they had a quick release clip.

  • Hey Ben

Good to bump into you last night - sorry if I didn't make much sense, I was drunk!

Ha! Nah, I've just ordered one of these new fangled "Archie's Grobags" for my ever expanding camera gear. I hear they are pretty good.

  • Cyclesurgery Holborn had some classic wicker baskets - I saw a lady buying one and remember thinking 'Jeezus! How much?!'
Was roughly £20-30 - give them a call... ^^^^^ that white one is nice but how does it fit onto your handlebars?

  • Where in London are you, I've got a spare one in the garage I bought for a friend but that they then didn't want. If time wasn't so short I'd post a picture, but it might just be easier to meet up so you can see it, it's round, wicker and sits on a steel strutt that bolts to the front wheel. You strap it to the handlebars using leather straps(if I can lay my hands on them) or zip ties (if I can't). The basket and strutt cost me £20, the leathers straps another £6, so that's what I'd want for them.

  • Cheers dude, but got it sorted now. Thanks anyway. Man this forum is usefull!

  • The basket I've got here would look best on a classic/traditional looking bike and would be a real pain/near impossible to take on and off, it's that kind of basket, not as elegant as the clickfix one velorution have on their website. If your looking for something practical rather than picturesque, a friend has one of the klickfix ballistic nylon shoppers and it works really well. Not trying to put you off the basket I've got just want to be upfront about what it is and isn't.

  • Cool, cheers for the heads up.

  • Starting to think "cheers" is my version of aidans 'haaaa" ;-)
