Your chainring bolts prob fell out first and then the chainring bent. Keep an eye on chain ring bolts on fixed gears as they have a funny habit of loosening off quite easily.
If you want a frame with clearance and long distance geo then the BJ frames would be great. However, a decent road frame (e.g. a nice 531 frame) would be a lot cheaper and just as suitable. Should be able to find some good candidates on Irish ebay or local ads. Most true track frames will have less clearance, may not be drilled and won't be as comfortable over long distances.
