i'll you what.
I saw an 08 Paddy Wagon in a wee shoppie yesterday, and it was REALLY RATHER GOODLOOKING, although a bit of a condor/fillmore ripoff, in battleship grey with white bands and a natty 'urban' yellow trim here and there.

Too right LPG.
And FatBloke you said 'you've ridden a langster and liked it' so just get what you want, don't be swayed by peer pressure and feel you have to justify your decision. But if you still want to know more check out the previous 'pista vs fuji track' thread for some sound advice.

get a NYC langster :P

don't see feeeel. Try them all, which ever fells like it fit / the most fun to ride choose that, but just don't get one of the city Lancasters, go for the normal one if the Lancster is the one that feels the best.

Just don't spend too much money if it's your first and only bike- i've seen guys who literally can't enjoy a
pint in a pub because they have to go and check on their bike every 43 seconds... (I'm not kidding.)
Avoid bright colours and large logos - then when you have your fuji (or whatever) and you've fucked it up
good and proper you can go and spend the money you saved on some decent strong unfancy wheels.
You'll then have an amazing bike that won't attract thieves quite so much.Or... if you always store it inside and never let it out of your sight (ie you are it's slave) - or if you have another
bike to use as a beater then yeah -go ahead with the white deep Vs, the anodized chainring and the £90 saddle...Ultimately your call - but i've made the mistake of thinking "i'll get a nice bike and a really strong lock" myself.
Also - what The Brick said.

man, i still check my beater when at the pub, don't wanna walk home!

My Fuji track was seen as a beater by someone on Sunday. It was sitting outside the pub and someone said to me "How much is that bike worth". He'd been talking with someone else who said "They're old man's bikes and are only like £20". He thought they looked more expensive than that but didn't think they'd be worth more than about £100.

sounds about right

There is now a green '08 Langster in the garage. It won't be green for long.
-
• #40
Well done now come for a ride.

Is it not a nice green? I've only seen the london and 07 langsters in the flesh, but I rather liked the paint job of the 08's? I would have had one if my lbs hadn't had a falling out with specialized

brett Not that many changes on the Langster over the years other than the appearance. Me - '06. Caned the crap out of mine for 5000 miles and my maintenance beyond cleaning and puncture repair has consisted of repairing a broken spoke and a quick wheel re-truing (oh and BB needs replacing currently).
Admittedly you'll want to change bits as you go but that's personal preference.Do you mean not that many changes to YOUR LANGSTER over the years, or THE LANGSTER, coz if you mean the latter I got to disagree, 06 to 07 Specialized completely changed the frame (IMO a bad thing) and changed the aluminium fork for a carbon one (I'd say a good thing).

MrSmith get a langster (an ordinary one) and don't get deep-v's and risers they are for fashion victims, remember those dayglo socks from the 80's? that's what deep v's are. in ten years time you will look back at pictures of you r bike and ask yourself "what the hell was i thinking?"
PRAISE YOU ! words from my own heart

Do you need two bikes? Why not just add to the Gillott and pocket the difference?
I'm continually hammered my '06 too for the last 18 months thru rain and shine and its still a good ride. Replace rear wheel last month. No punctures since Armadillos fitted. Several brake blocks and a couple of chains and sprockets = exceeding(edit)LY cheap 6000 odd miles. I'm drooling over Mercians & BJ's but will keep good ole L and dont give a flying fig about street cred bollocks. Remember that 99.99999% of peeps that see you on your lovely bike just see a guy on a bike!
