Anyone? Long Melford has most pubs per square mile than anywhere else in the UK.
-
• #28
It gets my vote then :)
-
• #29
Nah, it's just a really small place, but there's 1 pub ;o)

It looks good, but its 70 miles one way. I was thinking about that much in total - who's going to want to ride 140+ miles the weekend after Christmas?

I am up for this.
Christmas rides are always fun, especially when you are tipsy. -

a xmas day ride through the streets of london would be fookin great. Commitments elsewhere likely though. maybe i could sneak off for a couple of hours for a pootle
-

Yeah, perhaps it is a bit of a mission. But there's a cracking place there there that ticks all the right boxes - log fire, ales, wooden beams, people with beards. Another time perhaps in early spring?
I'll be up in the lakes for christmas. Hopefully be back for that weekend, but any Christmas hi-jinks are out for me.

You utter b@stard!
I had to bail on taking the WHOLE of December off to show my grrl around Oz, because she couldn't get time off! Fscking sh1t sticks!!Do you mean showing her to every pie shop in oz?
-
• #42
Every pie shop, every bakery, every pancake parlour, every pub, every brewery, every bar, every club, every bbq and to cap it off every ice cream parlour..

Hey! Who hijacked my thread?
This is about the weekend after christmas. Much as I'd love to bomb round a deserted London, I'm not going to be here.
-
• #44
So.. what's the plan for the POST xmas ride then El Capitano?
Long, short, (London will be mental with shoppers then won't it?), moo, bonkers, slipstream, riverboat? -
• #45
stompy Hey! Who hijacked my thread?
Quick - start an Australian cuisine thread..

I'd suggest out of London somewhere, about 30-40 miles from central to a decent country pub. Few pints and a bite, amble home before it's dark.
As for exactly where, not sure. Home counties are littered with nice boozers - will just take someone knowing of one. -

Where are the closest and biggest hills to London central? Kent?

It can't be that hard to find a pub anywhere, lets just head out and stop when we find somewhere to eat. I don't know exactly where 'cos I'm a city boy and get lost easily, I was hoping someone else would make suggestions.
Long Melford might be a bit far, but we could just take the Dunwich route out until we find somewhere and then ride back.

Do country pubs shut around xmas? Just wondering. Might pay to pick one out that is doing a roast or something funky before trundling around, running low on juice and bonking going over that Catford climb :)

i know a boozer in the chilterns. 45 miles from elephant and castle. or there is a few out cambridgeshire way at the 30-35 mile mark. but like hippy said, woudl need to do research, make sure they are open, and happy to receive a bunch of fixedwheel riding losers like us
In that case, I will hire a van and offer my services as Broom Wagon.
