• That bit of wire is perfectly adequate. In my life of cycling (lots) I've snapped like 2 and they were both on my BMX as a kid. I've ridden bikes with frayed and rusty cables and not had any trouble. and besides if one brakes I have the other. and if both brake I can drag my foot along the ground or put it on the back tire.

    Honestly some of you fixed wheel riders seem to talk like there was shit wrong with normal bikes but now that "fixies" have come along to save the day all is better. Cable brakes are perfectly fine for all road riders, fixed or not. Anyone who claims they need something more adequate is lying and arrogant. (Coaster brakes excepted).

    Your "fixie" is no safer than a normal bike with two wire brakes.
