TT brake levers

  • Am wanting to tinker with my charge, my main complaint at the moment is I've not got the guts to go onto the bullhorn bars (is that the proper name?) for long periods as I'm wanting to keep the brake levers covered.

So TT brake levers then? Mainly thinking of just the one for the front brake. Want to route the cable externally so I can add a secondary lever on the flat part of the bar. (I just want to have my cake and eat it).

Any thoughts on decent \ reasonable priced levers?

  • The ITM ones are top notch.

DH Cyclesport have them in their eBay Store for about 12 notes.

  • Cane Creek also do a set.. think they were $25AUD ea. when I had 'em..

  • You can use two of the secondary levers in tandem. One out on the bull horn end, and one on the flat of the bar. External cable routing. Cheap too.

  • Thanks guys, the cane creeks were the ones that through me cos of the internal routing.

  • I'm waiting on the levers at the bottom of this page (http://www.tektro.com/02products/09rx41.php) to turn up. I thought they were a bit easier on the eye than the Cane Creek equivalent.

I don't know if they'll fit, I don't know if they'll work, I don't even know if they'll ever arrive - purchased on the German version of eBay, you see. But for thirteen quid it seemed worth taking the risk.

Maybe you could let me know how you get on with the Cane Creeks...

  • Soweto, I see you're taking the risk that they're internally routed.

I'm assuming if they are, the cable comes out of the plug end? How are you going to get it outside again?

  • RX41s are the same as the Cane Creek. Externally routed.

  • .

  • aaahh!

I kind of had this assumption that all the TT ones were internal routing unless specified. Obviously I've got it a bit of the wrong way round...

    I can order away now...

Cor blimey ribble are doing the carbon versions of cane creek and tektro at under £30?

Only need the carbon bling effect but...

  • I made the very same mistake, but I wanted internal routing ones.

It's something I'll come back to when Project Witcomb is up and running.

  • Yeah, it is a risk. Don't jinx me! :-) If they have internal routing, they're just going to have to go back on eBay again. The carbon Tektro levers take the cable externally, so fingers crossed it'll be the same for this new model. I think I'm more worried about the plug fitting into the bars properly.

Carbon is quite foxy. I saw the Tektro levers here (http://tinyurl.com/34ohzv) for under thirty quid, should anyone fancy them. I think they'd look silly on my bike. Maybe there's a market for chromed carbon parts. :-)

  • Errr.....

  • Ah... That's not looking so good, is it? Damn it.

I wanted one of those cos there's more shiny metal on it than any other TT lever I could find. I've asked before, but if anyone can suggest a substitute, with external routing, I'd be grateful.

Anyone want to buy a Tektro TL 720 brake lever? It's never been used. :-)

  • D'oh!

  • Its a matter of taste, but I reckon the cane creek pips it slightly for me, + it gets good reviews.

Anyone know if it has a return spring like the tektro's?

Anyone want to split a set?

Anyone know if it has a return spring like the tektro's?

It's the same lever, just with a different rubber bung in the end.

  • aaah, that explains why the tektro's / blackburns / cc levers all look identical!

  • Cane Creek crosstop interrupter brakes are £25 pair at my LBS, the specialized ones are £15 a pair. Anyone want to go halves on a pair, I want the right one!

  • Get em off the Bay.

They're way cheaper Stateside and shipping is cheap cos they weigh nowt.

I got a pair of Soma badged ones fer £13.

That said some wee shite got em off me fer 6 notes when I sold em...

If money's an issue, try CONdor or Edwardes for a single lever left over from a build. You can flip them over to change sides but the bolt shows.
