Nobody likes being wrong. Much less having their noses rubbed in their wrongness. People don't want to kill you (most of the time) they are just insulated in their metal death machines and didn't see you. I try not to get angry or righteous - the net result isn't in our favour. Matt Seaton (whose book you have read Hippy) speaks a lot of sense on the subject.
