Come on Uxbridge Rd massiv' boo!!
yeah it's a funny sight seeing the tour-de-commute from outside of it - You can even catch the little details like the exhasperated glance from an old roadie's eyes as a knackered guy on a mtb goes bouncing/spinning past them with legs at 110 rpm and a clenched jaw.. HA! I get the bus on Monday morning and have loads of bikes to check-out as they go past. Like you say - all sizes, shapes, positions, all weathers too - it's great! -

You probably saw more coz you were 'in town' rather than out in the 'burbs.. there's shitloads more cyclists around the City than Ealing, for example.

I would estimate that on my regular commute numbers of cyclists have at least doubled, probably trebled in the last six months. It's gone crazy out there!!

maybe one day there'd be more cyclists than scooters/motorbikes behind the ASL and along bike lanes!

Soon we will take over the world! MWAHAHAHA!
Rode from west london to islington yesterday on the motorbike during rush hour and was amazed by how many people are on bikes, even in the shitty weather we've been having, and they were all bundled up so I'm assuming they'll brave the misery/joy (depending on your point of view) of cycling in the winter and commute full time. Men, women, fixed, messengers/fakengers, lycra clad roadies, youths on cheap full suspension jobbies, everyone and anyone.
I don't do that route usually, I'm south west, down via the river to west london so see a couple of people riding but not that many as I generally try not to ride in during rush hour in the morning as the showers at work are invariably full and you just stand around waiting and smelling.
But are my eyes deceiving me??? Are there more cyclists out there than usual???
