What stem to use with risers?

  • Ok, thinking about getting some cheap riser bars to try out, wouldn't mind a more relaxed ride and they seem to let you muck about with the bike a bit more (as I really am not a speed freak/ serious track rider). Thing is at the moment I have a super long profile stem, whereas all the pictures of fixed bikes with risers I have seen have really short stems. Could you guys give me any advice on a good stem to get, which will still be ok for my normal bars too?

  • 120mm, is a good neutral length, any shorter sharpens/quickens the steering
    longer slows it down...

  • also, you didn't mention....1'' or 1 1/8'', threaded or ahead????
front loading is better for risers.
