That's a bit of silly comment really, you can seriously fuck someone up by hitting them with 80+ KG travelling at 25+ MPH, that's pretty obvious. I do agree that both parties are likely to end up less injured in the bike / human collision compared to either getting hit by a car but getting twatted by a bike is not going to be nice.
One of my mates hit a guy really lightly, with his pedal, not enough to knock my friend off but the guy's knee went the wrong way (hit from the side at a crossing, knees don't bend like that I'm told) and now he will never walk unaided again.
Don't get me wrong, cars are v v dangerous in the wrong hands and the police would do better to be looking at them rather than us, it just never works like that. We're easy targets in a few respects, as mentioned in posts above.
Personally I consider £30 a fair amount to pay for the amount of time I've saved cruising through all the reds on my way around town.
