Speaking of Mandy Jones, back in the 80s I had a workmate who was a third cat road racer. He was out riding around Rochdale one evening when he came up behind a woman riding with a kid in a child seat behind her saddle.
He went to overtake, Mandy (for it was she) heard him coming, upped the pace and dropped him after a few miles...
She and her husband run Surosa Cycles in Oldham now.
