if you want to argue the law factor in an accident, how can anyone prove you didn't have a red rear reflector after they've driven two tons of metal over you and your bike?
and to be honest, the amount of reflective material on shoes, bags and clobber will more than satisfy the plod/insurers/court
you look at the london fg/ss bridges ride pictures, I bet many people don't even realise they show up like that
