I don't see why it matters.
Its a solution to a problem.

I've got one but I rarely use it. There's a very fine line temperature-wise between being warm enough to wear a cycling jersey/armwarmers, a gilet or a jacket

A what?
Oh a waist coat. Yeah I wear one in the cold sometimes. It's all about variaty. I like them because they add good warmth but pack down small in your bag.
The question you have to ask yourself is, Are you a sinner or a winner?

The bike is still here.
I asked for permission to keep it in the large empty area in our stairwell.
They said no.
I locked it in the stairwell anyway.
Fsck 'em. They can find me an alternative or sack me. -

I think they called it a 'life preserver' in Back To The Future, in... 1986?
I loathe mine aesthetically, but on pure functionality with its wind-blocking front and mesh back, I can't help going back to it in the half-seasons.

they called it a life preserver when he went back to 1955. because it looked like a life-jacket.

i like those.
Well, are they? To me, they represent the solution to the "needing wind/rain protection without getting too hot" conundrum.
