Just to clarify this point (for my own sake). You can use them for the rear but only as a freewheel.
Also you need to be sure that the width between the dropouts matches the hub width. you can sometimes squeeze or stretch a mm or two if needed but its not ideal.
They may be too wide for the front - is that what you meant? Use a rear hub as a front?
